California Focus Cities

With support from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), California Walks and UC Berkeley SafeTREC (SafeTREC) are working to support and strengthen pedestrian and bicycle safety in seven Focus Cities throughout California. The seven California Focus Cities are Bakersfield, Fresno, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, and Santa Ana. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) selected these seven cities because of their high rates of pedestrian and bicyclist injuries and fatalities.

Our California Focus Cities efforts are a collaboration between municipal staff, local non-profit and community-based organizations, and interested community residents. Together, these stakeholders identify opportunities that increase pedestrian and bicycle safety.
