Kevin Shin
Co-Executive Director
Kevin grew up in Southern California in the suburbs of eastern LA County, where he was shuttled around everywhere in a car. After graduating from Claremont McKenna College, he moved to Washington, DC, where he discovered the joys of living in a walkable and bikeable community. The experience resulted in a total shift in his understanding of what transportation can look like as he started to commute by bike and Metro. During his time in DC, Kevin earned an MBA from George Washington University and worked as a nonprofit fundraising and strategy consultant for the nonprofit technology company Blackbaud.
Upon returning to the LA/Long Beach area in 2014 after a decade on the East Coast, Kevin decided to use his expertise in nonprofit fundraising and strategic development to help make LA less car-dependent. This started with co-founding Walk Bike Long Beach, a chapter of the LA County Bicycle Coalition (now BikeLA), and later serving on BikeLA's Board of Directors. Kevin joined the BikeLA staff at the end of 2019 to lead policy and partnership development. He later served as Deputy Director, where he co-led the organization’s transformation and growth, policy advocacy, and strategic partnerships.
Kevin is a proud alumnus of the Leadership Long Beach Institute and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Long Beach Day Nursery. Kevin also served as an at-large member of Metro's Long Beach-East LA Corridor Community Leadership Committee and currently serves as a Commissioner on LA Metro’s Community Advisory Council.
